Revlon Selects Products Review Part I

I was selected to be a Revlon Select and got my package about a month ago. Being in the middle of exams, work, the holidays and now back to school, I hadn't really had time to blog. Now I'm trying to get back into the swing of things and I'm back!

My package came with these five products, I haven't had time to try out the Nail Art Expressionists and the Ultimate Suede lipstick yet.. I'll get onto that! First I tried out the eyeshadow palette. I wanted to get this out of the way since I'm not an eyeshadow girl; I only apply eyeshadow on my lower lash line. The palette I got is named "Metropolitan."

All the colors here have a little shimmer to it. They're all super soft and quite pigmented. I love these colors! I use this everyday on my lower lash line. I never really liked pink shadows, but the top most pink was light enough to used in the inner corners. The taupe-y silver shade is a little misleading, when swatched, it looks like a shimmery shade of the lid color with alot more silver pigmentation. Nonetheless, it's amazing to use as a blending shade. The sparkle in the eyelid brown shade is quite unnoticeable and looks quite matte swatched. I'm not too sure if the champagne pink primer, in the rectangle, was useful or not. I don't use these eyeshadows on my eyelids, so I don't need priming. the gold glitter shade gives such sparkle to draw attention to my eyes rather than my under eyes! I've been using this as a replacement for Wet N Wild's Comfort Zone palette for a more natural look..

Should you buy this? Probably not, the colours aren't spectacular, and you probably have these shades already if you're not a makeup newbie. Do I recommend it? Yes I do, it's a nice everyday neutral palette if you're in the market looking for a simple one. I was going to post a picture up with me wearing it, but I need to learn how to take better pictures before doing that :P

I then tried the Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy nail polish because the glitter side was just too adorable! The blue-ish pink speckles reminded me of moon rocks or something. I was a bit skeptical at first with the base navy shade containing the same amount of polish as the glitter side. Nail polish usually needs two coats to get a decent opacity.. and I would need much more than the provided Navy shade to use up the glitter.... But to my surprise the Navy was incredibly opaque. One coat was all it took to look like the shade in the bottle!

Though my problem with this product was with the glitter polish side... as cute as the concept was, I did not find the combination to be worth it. I applied the glitter polish on top of the navy and honestly, I barely saw the glitter. I can barely see the flecks... cute concept but the results were a little disappointing. Great pigmentation on the navy shade but the glitter didn't do it...I'll pass on this...

Part II coming shortly
